Barry the BeeMaster Barry
is a local beekeeper serving the Greater Victoria area on the southern end of Vancouver Island, BC Canada. He is an accredited Bee Master in the province of British Columbia and BCHPA certified instructor of Beginner's Beekeeping. Barry has been actively keeping bees for more than 15 years throughout the South Islands.

Training is an integral part of the support program we provide to beekeepers of the south islands of British Columbia. We currently offer courses for several aspects of beekeeping. All courses include field experience as well as classroom time. We also provide an on going private consulting service for additional on site training.

Beginner's Beekeeping ($265 for 2020)
This course is an introduction to beekeeping. There are no prerequisites. The course offers participants both theory and practical field experience. Classes are small with a maximum of 12 students in Victoria. Experience beekeeping while learning as we work with live bees in the classroom. Course Description:

A bee veil for over the head protection during the field sessions is required. Course material is included. I will assist in starting your new apiary by sourcing beekeeping and beekeeper equipment and guaranteeing the availability of at least 1 NUC (starter hive) of locally bred bees from my private stock, typically available early May. Price to be set during March, 2020.

If you are unable to attend a scheduled course, please advise of a date when  you are available by email. When there is sufficient interest, I will definitely consider scheduling another course.
